One of the important qualities of Mindfulness Practice that supports us tremendously is that of Patience. Gil Fronsdal talks about Patience.

    A note from Sean

One of my first breakthroughs in meditation was not scratching an itch. As ordinary as that sounds, it can feel quite extraordinary when you sit through it with patience. You notice it. The more we judge it or fear it, the stronger the pull to get rid of it.

Try this today. The next time you get an itch, or the urge to check your phone, wait three breaths. Feel it as sensation: where it is, how it moves. Then decide what to do.

Keep going: Patience: A Guided Meditation and Patience and Perseverance.

If it is pain rather than an itch, or the urge is tied to something heavy, go gently and move if you need to. Stop when you need to.
