In the midst of busy schedules, constant notifications, and life’s never-ending demands, it’s easy to forget the power of slowing down and simply being. That’s why each week I share 5 Mindful Musings — insights, practices, and resources that are helping me live more mindfully.
Here’s what’s been on my heart and mind this week.

Here’s what’s been on my heart and mind this week.

What I’m Practicing: The Art of Slowing Down

Life has a way of piling everything on at once. Lately, I’ve been reminding myself to pause and breathe before rushing into the next task.

Here are a few practices that help me reconnect to presence:

  • Pause and take 3 mindful breaths.
  • Notice where in the body feels safe and let awareness rest there.
  • Release the urge to rush into the “next thing.”
  • Soften the jaw, drop the shoulders, and let tension melt.
  • Allow silence to speak louder than thought.

These simple mindfulness practices help reset my nervous system and bring me back to center.

What I’m Reflecting On: The 90-Second Rule

Happiness researcher Mo Gawdat shares a fascinating insight from neuroscientist Jill Bolte Taylor: it only takes 90 seconds for stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline to move through the body.

The catch? Each time we replay the stressful thought in our minds, we restart the cycle. After the initial 90 seconds, we actually have a choice: do we renew the stress, or do we allow ourselves to let go?

This is such a powerful reminder that our thoughts can keep us stuck in stress—or free us from it.

What I’m Sharing: Self-Love Is Not Selfish

One of the best podcasts I listened to this week was “Self-Love Is Not Selfish: The Real Inner Work of Mindful Leaders.”

Here are a few key takeaways:

  • Self-love isn’t about fixing yourself — it’s about befriending yourself.
  • Mindfulness allows us to witness without shame.
  • For leaders, caregivers, and teachers, self-love isn’t optional — it’s essential.
  • Breath and body practices can soften resistance and open the heart.

As the host beautifully put it: “You don’t need to become someone else to be worthy of love. You just need to come home to yourself.”

What I Just Ordered: The Secret Language of Your Body

I’m diving into Inna Segal’s bestselling book The Secret Language of Your Body: The Essential Guide to Health and Wellness. With over 1,500 five-star reviews on Amazon, it’s become a go-to resource for exploring how unresolved emotions can manifest in the body.

Some themes I’m curious about:

  • The emotional roots of chronic conditions like migraines and fatigue
  • How to listen to the body without fear
  • Why some people stay “stuck” in their healing journey
  • The mind-body connection between emotions and physical wellness

Have you read it? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

A Story I Like: The Two Wolves

An old Cherokee story reminds us of the timeless battle within:

“A fight is going on inside me,” a grandfather told his grandson. “It is a fight between two wolves. One is evil—anger, regret, greed, and false pride. The other is good—peace, love, kindness, and faith.”

The grandson asked, “Which wolf will win?”

The grandfather smiled and said, “The one you feed.”

This story feels especially relevant today as we choose where to place our attention — on fear, or on love.

Final Reflection

Mindfulness is not about perfection — it’s about presence. Whether it’s taking three mindful breaths, practicing self-love, or reflecting on timeless wisdom, every small step brings us closer to living with more peace and awareness.
