A note from Sean
Much of this practice is turning toward what’s uncomfortable and noticing it for what it is. We don’t exaggerate it, rebel against it, or suppress it. Within reason, and with care and curiosity, it’s usually not as bad as we think. Fear tends to get in the way.
Try this today. Before bed, answer two of the questions in one line each: what is most strongly affecting how I feel today (question 4), and what emotion am I avoiding this week (question 7)? Then take three slow breaths and find that feeling in your body. Stay with it for a minute without fixing it.

This suits anyone whose days run on autopilot. Start with a mild feeling, not the biggest one. If what you are avoiding is grief or trauma, go gently. Stop when you need to.
