    A note from Sean

When people tell me they get distracted all the time, I suggest narrowing in on one thing first. Stay with it. When you drift, come back. That kind of focus builds the strength to stay mindful for longer stretches later.

Try this today. Twice today, set a timer for three minutes. Choose one focus: the feeling of your breath, or a single word like “peace.” Stay with only that. When you notice you have drifted, thank yourself for noticing and come back.

This suits anyone who runs from one task to the next. If staying with one thing makes you restless or anxious, shorten the time, go gently, and stop when you need to.
