A note from Sean
Gratitude comes naturally when we are truly present and have softened the sense of control. We did not ask to be here, and still we are breathing, relatively cared for, relatively safe. For me that brings humility and a deeper feeling of interconnectedness.
Try this today. The next time anyone helps you today, even a little, like a cashier or a driver who lets you merge, pause for one breath and feel the thanks in your body before you say it.

This suits anyone who feels alone. If some of your helpers come with hurt, or thinking of family brings up grief, go gently: start with someone simple, like a teacher or a kind stranger. Stop when you need to.
