Sean Fargo guides this self-compassion meditation. It invites you to bring a difficult situation to mind and meet it with kindness toward yourself.
A note from Sean
I describe self-compassion as love in the midst of our own suffering. That could be stress, grief, fear, or physical pain. We can look at it closely, or hold it very lightly and simply acknowledge that it is here. Both are fine.
Try this today. Choose a mild difficulty, something like a 3 out of 10, not the hardest thing in your life. Rest a hand on your chest. Quietly say, “This is hard right now,” then add one kind wish, such as “May I be gentle with myself.” Stay for three breaths.

This meditation asks you to bring a difficult situation to mind, so start small. If it stirs up strong emotion, grief, or trauma, go gently: open your eyes and feel your feet on the floor. Stop when you need to.
