A talk by Mark Coleman on the flowering of compassion. Mark explains that we live in a world of heartful connectedness, and that the real path lies in loving-kindness.

    A note from Sean

With loving-kindness, the words matter less than the feeling. Some people use a wish, some a prayer, and some just feel it. Find the words that resonate, for yourself and for other people.

Try this today. Think of one person you care about and rest a hand on your chest. For five slow breaths, silently wish them well in words you actually feel, such as safe, healthy, happy, at ease. Notice any warmth, even a faint one.

This suits beginners and long-time practitioners. If wishing someone well brings up hurt or grief, stay with the easy person, or stop. Go gently. Stop when you need to.
