Guided Meditation on Patience by Marcia Rose is about patience as an important and necessary quality in mindfulness insight practice.
A note from Sean
One of my first breakthroughs in meditation was not scratching an itch. It sounds small, but sitting through it with patience can feel quite extraordinary. You notice the itch and break free from the reaction and the judgment. The more we judge it, or fear feeling it, the stronger the pull to get rid of it.
Try this today. The next time you feel a small itch, or the urge to check your phone, wait three breaths. Feel it as sensation in your body. Then do what you choose.
Keep going: One Breath at a Time and the Mindful Pause worksheet.
This suits anyone who feels rushed or restless. Start with small urges, not big ones. If waiting stirs up strong emotion or pain, go gently. Stop when you need to.
