This is the second part of the exercise we started in the previous post. (If you haven’t read it, please do so before continuing.)

In the previous post, I asked you to rank the characters in order of despicability. I wanted to reveal the different ways in which you and others interpret behaviors according to your personal hierarchies of values.

In this post, I want to reveal the way in which you and others make sense of the story by interpreting information according to your mental models.

I mean “make sense” in a literal sense. That is, we hear words the words as they are spoken, but we construct the meaning using our own imagination.

Despicability is in the eye of the beholder.
