A note from Sean
Some people hear “contentment” and think it means giving up. For most of us it can also bring up a sense of unworthiness, of not enoughness. That is worth exploring. What is my relationship with contentment? What am I waiting for to be content?
Try this today. Pick one ordinary moment today, like a warm drink or washing your hands. Feel your feet and hands for three breaths and ask quietly, “What do I already have right now?” Don’t try to feel content. Just ask.
Keep going: Contentment for Simply Being and Gratitude by Gil Fronsdal.
This suits anyone who feels they are always waiting for enough. If the question brings up grief or a sense of lack, go gently. Stop when you need to.
