4 Powerful Truths About the Mind
In a recent short video, I was reminded of some profound psychological truths that shift the way we see ourselves and our inner experience.
Here are four takeaways:
- Our brains lie to us constantly. The mind tells stories shaped by old wounds, biases, and emotions — but those stories aren’t always reality.
- What we avoid controls us. Avoidance feels like short-term relief, but in the long run it strengthens fear, procrastination, and shame.
- We are not who we think we are. Our identity is fluid, shaped by what we repeatedly do — not by static self-concepts.
- We’re wired for emotion, but built to regulate it. True well-being comes from being able to name, hold, and use emotions consciously instead of being hijacked by them.
Mindfulness helps us see through mental illusions, face discomfort with courage, and choose our actions intentionally.
A Closing Reflection
Wherever you are on your mindfulness journey, quietly practicing at home, engaging in group reflections, or training to teach, know that you are part of something bigger: a shared intention to live with compassion, clarity, and presence.
May these resources serve as inspiration and support for your ongoing path.
