Meditation, mindfulness and manifesting. You may have heard of them. You may even have tried one, or even all of them. Individually, they can be very powerful and help to discover more about your mind, body and spirit. But, when used alongside each other, the positive power they can produce can be life and mind-set changing.
The 3 M’s form part of the Ziva technique, developed by Emily Fletcher. The three-part alliterative sequence uses mindfulness, mantra-based meditation and manifesting to make your dreams your reality.
In this article, we will delve into what each practice involves and how to incorporate them into your life. Then we will explain how to harness the power of all three together and how you can use this power to achieve your goals.
What are the 3 M’s?
Meditation, Mindfulness and Manifesting are often talked about within the self-care and spirituality sphere. While there are some similarities, each is practiced differently and for specific outcomes.
1. Meditation
Meditation is an ancient practice that pays attention to the breath and noticing when the mind wanders. Meditation usually involves a dedicated space or time, although it can also be incorporated into yoga or sleep routines.
It can be difficult to begin meditation for the first time. Learning to meditate can take time. Patience is key. You may notice how quickly the mind wanders. Making time to meditate will mean you can practice more, and strengthen your ability to focus.
2. Mindfulness
Similar to meditation, mindfulness is the art of bringing your awareness into the present moment. The difference between mindfulness and meditation could be considered in the formality or informality of each practice.
While meditation encourages setting aside time to practice, mindfulness is something that can be practiced while doing everyday tasks. Meditation is about clearing the mind, whereas mindfulness is about acknowledging your mind in situ.
There can be obstacles to practicing mindfulness. For example, having an addictive personality can make you increasingly mindless. It’s no surprise then, that many addiction recovery treatments focus on teaching mindfulness as part of recovery.
It can also be hard to bring your attention to being mindful in everyday situations. Life can get very busy and being under stress can also impact your ability to focus on the present while also being productive in the moment. When starting out on your triple M journey, try to practice mindfulness beyond the moment to be both fully in the moment and still be completely lost in whatever you are also doing.
3. Manifesting
Unlike meditation and mindfulness, manifesting is more about the future. Manifesting can involve vision boards or daily affirmations. It is important to not think too short-term or too selfishly when manifesting, instead looking higher at what will be good for all.
Unlike meditation, manifesting should be practiced and present in all you do to encourage inspiration and a constant focus on your aspirations. Similarly, manifesting can include the law of attraction to make your dreams come true.
How does meditation, mindfulness and manifesting work together?
It is through manifesting that meditation and mindfulness can harness the power of positive intent and accomplish your goals. Knowing that your meditations and reasons for practicing mindfulness, and ensuring that they align with your manifestations, will increase the positive power of them all.
Individually, each ‘M’ can help you to live a more peaceful, balanced life. However, each practice complements and oftentimes enhances the other. Setting intentions, or manifesting, before starting a period of meditation can help to achieve deeper mindfulness.
Ultimately, each practice focuses on focus. About directing focus to a specific thing, whether that’s the present or the future. When practiced in tandem, it can help you to align your goals, working towards your dreams while also appreciating the present.
Don’t forget though, your mantra and the motivation behind your meditation, mindfulness and manifestation should be for higher good. That means it’s important to always show gratitude and to trust the process. Sometimes the universe works in ways that are not always obvious. What you perceive to be your ultimate goal, may present itselves in an unexpected journey.
