Many of us are drawn to a mindfulness practice because we want to enhance our quality of life. We’re looking for a way to bring mindful habits to bear on every aspect of routine: our relationships, our diet, our general lifestyle, our family, and more. Often, though, we overlook an incredibly important component of our lives where mindfulness can come in handy: our jobs.
Indeed, many of us approach meditation with the idea that we’ll sort out all of the personal aspects of our lives. Meanwhile, work is work, right? There’s not much to be done for it. Your job is inherently demanding, stressful, and overwhelming. There are too many external factors at play. You have control over very little, and you’re therefore able to effect zero change. This is the false analysis that many people apply to their occupational life.
The reality is completely different. Regardless of what industry you work in, how large your company or organization is, or what your job description entails, there are myriad opportunities to incorporate mindfulness into your professional world. In fact, considering that most of us spend the vast majority of our waking lives at work, applying mindful habits to our professional lives is quite possibly more important than any other part of our meditative practice.
That’s why we’ve put together this repository of videos related to mindful leadership. If you’re a CEO, manager, or department head, these videos will speak to the challenges that you face on a daily basis. But even if you’re in a position that’s not traditionally associated with leadership, these videos are still for you. Why? Because no matter what your job description is, you hold the capacity to exert a calm, peaceful, centered influence on your work environment. When you exhibit qualities of mindful leadership, your co-workers will follow suit.
