    A note from Sean

All sorts of emotions can come up when we look at endings, and that is natural. I don’t recommend this kind of practice for people brand new to mindfulness, or for anyone in a hard emotional stretch. I’m not saying life is bleak. When we really connect with it, life is beautiful and precious.

Try this today. Pick one thing you use every day, like your keys or a mug. Hold it and feel its weight. Ask the worksheet’s question gently: where did this come from, and where is it going? Then look around the room, take three slow breaths, and wiggle your toes and fingers, as the worksheet does to close. You don’t need an answer. Let the question stay a question.

Keep going: Embrace Change and Strengthen Gratitude: 7 Meditations on Impermanence and Impermanence Meditation.

This suits readers with some meditation experience. If you are grieving, ill, or afraid of endings, go gently, or leave this one for another day. Stop when you need to.
