When being intentional about mindfulness, it’s important to start each day centered, focused, and aware. Your ability to train your brain in mindfulness techniques will empower you to live in a more conscious state of your thoughts, feelings, and the environment around you. Superbrain Yoga is a new technique that many are using to begin their day.

Superbrain Yoga just takes a few minutes, and uses principles of acupuncture and breathing to train the brain. It’s been used by people of all ages from children to the elderly, and has anecdotal evidence of helping many people to focus, provide clarity, manage stress, and emotions.

In studies where those who participate in Superbrain Yoga practices are monitored, the brain waves show an increase in alpha waves within one minute of the exercise. It also shows more synchronization between the right brain and the left brain, providing an opportunity for people to use their rational and emotional sides together to allow for a more complete, balanced experience.

Creators of Superbrain Yoga experience suggest participants start by facing east. Then push the tongue up against the roof of the mouth, as if you’re going to say a word that starts with the letter L, and hold it there for the duration of the exercise. Bring the left arm across the chest and pinch the right earlobe between the thumb and forefinger, with the thumb facing out. Do the opposite with the right arm. Then, in a quiet, controlled manner, inhale slowly and lower your body into a sitting position. Exhale as you raise yourself up to a standing position. Repeat 15 to 20 times each morning.

It is difficult to reach a state of mindfulness when the brain is overly emotional, lacks focus, clarity, or is stressed. The Superbrain Yoga exercises allow a person to start the day in a few moments of quiet awareness, which, in effect, puts the brain in a mental state to work at its peak performance.
