Before you know what kindness really is, you must lose things. Feel the future dissolve in a moment like salt in a weakened broth. What you held in your hand and what you counted and carefully saved, all these must go so you know how desolate the landscape can be between the regions of kindness. How you ride and ride thinking the past will never stop, the passengers eating ___ and chicken will stare out of the window forever. Before you learn the tender gravity of kindness, you must travel with the Indian in the white puncture lies dead by the side of the road, you must see how this could be you, how he too was someone who journeyed through the night with plants and with the simple breath that kept him alive. Before you know, kindness is the deepest thing inside. You must know sorrow as the other deepest thing. You must wake up with sorrow. You must speak to it through your voice catches the thread of all sorrows, and you see the size of the cloth. Then, here’s only kindness that makes sense anymore. Only kindness that ties your shoes and sense you out into the day to, may all letters, and purchase bread. So, dear friends, for the practitioners bringing awareness to the contemplation of kindness and compassion, merciful, receptivity, to the sufferings of the heart, the loneliness, the seeking, the hopeful, the poignant. To all the very dimensions of our experience. Finding our body. Feeling the sensation of sitting on our cushion. The pressure of the buttocks and the thighs and the ___, ankles, and feet pressing on our cushion or on our sit with the feet touching the earth.

Feeling our body just as it is. Knowing this body like all bodies here such as to weakness, to sickness, frailty—a subject to feel in all kinds of unbearable feelings, subject to stress and overwhelm. To uncertainty and grandness, to hope and aspiration. To pleasure and pain. Receiving this form of our experience from the flesh and bones and blood and internal organs, skeletal structure, until the energetic experience, the subtle ___ of the body, the thoughts and the feelings, the sensations. Receiving everything that we’re aware, that have been with through this time together in our awareness. Touching lightly, welcoming, bringing awareness to just receive our experience here and now. Beginning as we do so to attune to the simple breath within the body.

Feeling how this body, this breathing, sitting here, this time, this moment, is shaped by the ancestors. All these gone before this part of what is carried within this body, within his memories, within his shaping of the structures of the self.

All the things learnt, all the things feared, all the things understood within which this human heart, with this great capacity for courage, for love, for patience, for forgiveness, beats intimately.

Feeling from that flow of the generations of the ancestors and the lineage of awakening in all manner of ways, supporting us, blessing us, extending love to towards us with the intention you can be here, you can do this. You are welcome here. You are a part of us. We love you and we are proud of you. Your achievements and your courage. Feeling as you breathe in, receiving goodness from this lineage, from within your unheard, from all around, from all of us sitting here together. The kindness that is shared among us. And ___ to be breathe in, and through, and ___ into your body. All of these bodies. The ___ body, and your feeling body.

Connecting and invoking as we breathe. All of the subtle rounds of radiancy, compassion, great, great compassion and love. As demonstrated through the Saints and awakened ones. Receiving that within the bones like liquid light. Healing, dissolving, unnecessary fears and struggles and stress.

As our awareness connects, the vast, lineage of awakening, through time and space, boundless and yet intimate within our hearts, touching us now. Breathing in, ___ through our whole being, to our whole body. Kindness and strength, love, substance, gentleness. May this whole body, everything that I feel, all that I struggle with, all that I hope for, may all these be truly and profoundly well.

Allowing that radiancy, let settle, welcome of how it is here now. That sublime quality within the welcome of love, acceptance, care, ___ for all of us. Allowing that to resonate out in front, to the sides, and behind your body. To touch the forms around you. Rippling out across the local area and towns and cities and landscapes like a rolling wave lights, warmth, care, mercy, love. Across this great continent and all the many beings, peoples here. May there be the ___ of great, brilliance, light and compassion touching all beings, dissolving fear, suffering, hatred.

No one is outside this contemplation. All that is held for us personally, in our families, in our relationships within our history, and collectively, all of these touched by a wave, an intentionality and extending out of acceptance and kindness and love for the hearts of all beings. May they truly and profoundly be well.

Above and below, into and around this great earth. Places, of ___, of conflict, depravation, of struggle, extending light and healing, and kindness, and love. Dissolving at a sub-atomic level as it were heaviness and suffering and constriction and ___.

Inside this heart, mind awareness is this whole world. Touching with compassion. Feeling with and extending kindness. Dissolving. Transforming suffering.

Bringing into a mind’s eye any particular people or beings that you would like to extend compassion and kindness to those that are near and dear. Those that are no one, but not necessarily close to you or a focus of difficulty and those that are connected for you with the sense of pain, struggle, wounding.
