Meditation for Deeper Awareness

Jack Kornfield is an American author and teacher. He works in the vipassana movement within American Theravada Buddhism, having been trained as a Theravada Buddhist monk in Burma, India, and Thailand. Jack has been teaching meditation around the world since 1974 and is widely considered one of the first people to introduce Buddhist mindfulness meditation to the Western world.

His teaching combines compassion, loving-kindness, and mindfulness training. Jack’s unique approach to mindfulness combines both the wisdom of the East and some of the most powerful and useful currents in Western psychology.

Jack Kornfield is a prolific writer, and has published a variety of bestselling books. Titles include The Path of Insight MeditationSeeking the Heart of WisdomAfter the Ecstasy, the Laundry, and Meditation for Beginners.

In the following mindfulness exercise, Jack guides us on a slow, relaxing mindfulness meditation. In it, Jack Kornfield uses his voice in combination with peaceful meditation bells to calm and still the mind.
